The 12 Best Places for a Dreamy Texas Babymoon in 2024

Looking for the perfect Texas babymoon? I’ve got you covered! As a Texas-based travel blogger, I’ve gotten to explore so many incredible towns and cities. And as someone who is pregnant (at the time of writing), I know what it’s like to be in your shoes!

Put those two together and you’ve got the ultimate list of the best babymoon destinations in Texas!

Let’s get started!

Austin

Austin is one of the most fun, most scenic Texas cities if you ask me. And, yes, that is coming from a biased Dallasite!

With trendy hotels, incredible restaurants, and gorgeous nature spots, Austin really has it all, and it’s a great place to visit when you’re expecting.

Hotels like Hotel Ella, the Austin Proper Hotel, the Fairmont Austin, or Hotel San Jose give you the perfect combination of luxury and relaxation.

Dine at Cisco’s for Tex-Mex, Sam’s Bar-B-Que or Franklin Barbecue for famous barbecue, or Veracruz All Natural for some of the best tacos in the city!

Nature lovers can enjoy Barton Springs, though you’ll want to check for any warnings beforehand when it comes to natural swimming holes!

Into art? Check out Laguna Gloria– it’s an incredibly beautiful indoor and outdoor gallery on lush grounds. If you’re looking for good Austin photo spots, you’ll love the views from the 360 bridge (pictured above) and from Mount Bonnell, as well as the many murals around Austin. (Check out this post for my full list of the best photo spots in Austin!)

For a fun music scene, head to one of the many places on 6th Street or The Elephant Room on Congress.

You can also combine Austin with the next spot on this list, Dripping Springs, for a mix of big city and small-town vibes.

For a more resort-like babymoon, stay at Miraval Austin for the most pampered, summer camp for grownups experience you’ll get in Texas! This all-inclusive, adults-only concept from Hyatt is brilliant- with so many fun activities, complimentary meals, and gorgeous rooms, I think you’ll love Miraval as much as we did!

They really pay attention to the details here, from the Miraval goody bag you get at check-in to the filtered water fill-up stations around the property that will keep you and baby hydrated while you walk around the gorgeous grounds. There’s a top-notch spa where you can book one of their many prenatal spa services, too! After your spa treatment, enjoy the gorgeous Hill Country views from the pool.

We did activities like archery, hanging yoga, stand-up paddleboarding, and a charcuterie board-making class (which we did alongside a famous NBA player, too!). The classes are small and intimate and you’re bound to make some friends if you want to!

Dripping Springs

Did you know that Dripping Springs is the wedding capital of Texas? So it makes sense that it would also be a perfect place for a babymoon!

I recommend staying at Camp Lucy– their rooms are impeccably designed and the grounds are gorgeous! And regardless of whether you stay at Camp Lucy or not, dining on-site at Tillies is a must! We loved every single thing we ate there- and you get to see alpacas right outside the restaurant, too.

While in Dripping Springs, check out the famous Texas water hole, Hamilton Pool. Keep in mind that you’ll need reservations for Hamilton Pool far in advance. If you don’t get them, you can also visit Westcave Preserve, a canyon with outdoor trails and a beautiful waterfall! My favorite water hole, Krause Springs (pictured above), is about 45 minutes north in Spicewood. It is privately run with a natural pool that is absolutely gorgeous! Like I mentioned before, you’ll want to check on the status of these pools especially when pregnant, as bacteria levels determine whether it is safe to swim in the water!

Be sure to visit the Texas Hill Country Olive Company, too (pictured above). You can do an olive oil tasting for $20 per person.

For a bit of adventure, head to Pedernales Falls State Park, where you can do hikes of various lengths and see the slowly cascading falls.

Big Bend

Situated right on the Mexican border, Big Bend is one of the best places for a Texan babymoon if you’re looking for a bit of adventure. It’s known as a popular destination for camping and hiking, but you can totally visit here for a babymoon too!

There are hikes of all lengths at Big Bend National Park, just make sure to not push yourself and give yourself grace with the strain from that growing baby bump! (Compression socks are your friend!) Drink plenty of water, too!

The area is actually quite well known for its spa facilities, too. You could visit Casa La Vista which is close to downtown Marathon, or Spa at the Gage for a facial or other treatment.

Or you could even stay at the luxurious Lajitas Golf Resort. If you’re up to it, you could play a spot of golf, or just enjoy your beautiful room or spend your days getting pampered at the spa!

San Antonio & Boerne

For a taste of Texas history with both city and small-town vibes, look no further than a babymoon in San Antonio. Stay at the luxurious and historical Hotel Emma, a 146-room riverfront gem.

While you’re relaxing in San Antonio, you should check out the famous Riverwalk (La Villita area is my favorite! Pictured above.), the Japanese Tea Garden (there’s a stunning waterfall, pictured above!), the San Antonio Botanical Garden, and the Mission Trail. On the Mission Trail, you can drive from one historical mission to the next; there are four main ones in one area. And, of course, you can’t miss the most famous mission of them all: the Alamo!

If you want to combine city vibes with small-town feels, either do a day trip to Boerne or Castroville. You can even stay at The Bevy in Boerne and do a day trip into San Antonio if you’d prefer more time in a small town. Eat breakfast at the charming Dienger Trading Co. and explore the shops on Main Street.

While in Boerne, make a reservation to explore Cave Without a Name. It’s the way less touristy version of the many cavern tours you can do in this area of Texas! It’s also great for escaping the summer heat, as Texas caverns stay a cool 66 degrees.

Looking to cool off? From Boerne, head to nearby Bandera and go swimming in the Medina River at Bandera City Park (first picture above). You can also go kayaking or tubing on the Medina River with the Medina River Co. Or, from San Antonio, head to Castroville Regional Park and swim in that portion of the Medina- it’s absolutely beautiful (second picture)!

New Braunfels

New Braunfels is downright charming, especially when it comes to the Gruene Historic District. With the historic Gruene Hall, cozy Hill Country lodgings, and fun dining and shopping places, this Texas town is ideal for your Texas babymoon!

We stayed at Gruene Mansion Inn and had the river right behind our cozy cabin!

If you’re looking for a bit of adventure- albeit the relaxing kind- consider tubing the river! You can do so at Hinman Island Park.

Are you an animal lover? Do a safari tour through the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch (this is also a great activity to do with kids once the baby comes and grows up a bit!). You do this driving tour in the comfort of your own car, so you can keep the AC cranked up in the hot Texas summers.

Another great activity when it’s hot out is visiting Natural Bridge Caverns. Here you can explore the intricate caves underground where it stays an even 70 degrees all year round. Just be sure to wear shoes with good traction as the floors can be slippery- gotta protect mama and baby! Natural Bridge Caverns can get pretty crowded on weekends and at peak hours. If you want to try to avoid crowds, try to join one of the last tours of the day or visit on a weekday. Going right when they open can help, too!

Fredericksburg

Though known for vineyards and being the heart of Texas Hill Country’s wine country, Fredricksburg is worth the visit even when pregnant! In fact, a babymoon in Fredricksburg makes for a romantic Texas trip.

Main Street in Fredricksburg is absolutely charming with plenty of boutiques, restaurants, and more. The heavy German influences in the area just add to its charm.

I recommend staying at a historic cabin- we stayed in this one and it came with a freshly-baked raspberry Danish! (My pregnancy cravings are running wild as I write this, and now all I want is a raspberry Danish!) The one we stayed in had a hot tub- unfortunately, while pregnant, you’ll need to nix any hot tubbing.

Looking for adventure? Hike up to the top of the rock at Enchanted Rock State Park (reservations required). If you’re thinking of a Texas babymoon in the spring, try to schedule your trip around wildflower season (which might be easier said than done, as some years they bloom earlier or later than others). The bluebonnets in the area are gorgeous and bloom anytime from late February ‘til April. My favorite drive where you can see them is called the Willow City Loop (pictured above).

If you miss wildflower season, keep in mind that you can (and should) visit Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg! They’ve got so many flower varieties that there is always something in bloom.

Check out my list of hidden gems in Fredericksburg here!

(And going back to Fredericksburg being wine country central- if you’re a big wine connoisseur, keep in mind that you can still do tastings with a spit bucket!)

Hill Country Road Trip

By now I’ve mentioned some of my favorite Texas Hill Country towns (New Braunfels, Dripping Springs, Boerne, and Fredericksburg).

Did you know that with a bit of driving, you can see them all in one trip? Yup- if you want to see a lot of the Texas Hill Country or simply are in the mood for a road trip, check out my Texas Hill Country itinerary!

You’ll need to nix horseback riding in Bandera while you’re pregnant, but other than that, the itinerary is very babymoon-friendly! Just be sure to check bacteria levels before swimming in any natural pools.

Houston

As a Dallasite, Houston really surprised me, in the best way possible. There is so much to do in Houston, which makes it perfect for a babymoon in Texas!

We stayed at the Four Seasons and loved our stay! For a more affordable option, opt for the Hyatt Regency Houston– we also loved our stay there! While in Houston, some highlights include Hermann Park, Buffalo Bayou Park, and Bayou Bend Garden (pictured above).

When it’s too hot to be outside and pregnant in the summer (swollen ankles, anyone?), check out one of Houston’s many museums. My favorite is the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences (HMNS). They’ve got the coolest butterfly garden, too, though you’ll need to pay a separate entry fee for it. If you’re an art fan, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is huge and includes a bunch of different buildings and installations.

The Gerald D. Hines Waterwall or the live oaks in Southampton (I list the exact location in this post) are ideal for babymoon pictures if you want them!

Brunch at Tiny Boxwoods, grab A TON of chocolate chip cookies at Milk & Cookies so you can enjoy them as long as possible, and get a mix of French and Vietnamese cuisine at Le Colonial (their Cha Gio spring roll appetizer is my favorite!).

A Houston bonus: you can head to the beach! Galveston is just a little ways away.

Tyler

If you’re looking for a Texas babymoon destination near Dallas, Tyler is a great option for you. It’s just a short drive away from Dallas, about an hour and a half away. Fun fact: Tyler is the Rose Capital of America! So when you’re there, visiting the Tyler Rose Garden is a must- and it’s free!

Satisfy your sweet tooth in the summer by going blueberry picking in June and July! You’ll have a couple of options, but Blueberry Hill Farms in Edom is my favorite! They offer all delicacies blueberry-related like blueberry donuts and blueberry ice cream!

Get some hiking in at Tyler State Park, which offers 13 miles of hiking/biking trails throughout the park.

Pack a picnic and take it to Love’s Lookout for sunset (second photo above).

And definitely eat at these two restaurants while you’re in Tyler: Lago del Pino and The Grove. While Lago del Pino offers upscale dining with gorgeous lakeside views (so romantic!), The Grove gives more eclectic, Alice-in-Wonderland-esque vibes.

While in Tyler, stay at High Hill Farm. Not only is their food incredible, but their Sunday cottages are adorable- we loved staying here! There’s a pool, too, for when you need to cool off in the summer. (The only, and I mean ONLY, thing I didn’t like was that the AC units in the rooms were pretty loud, so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper).

Corpus Christi and Port Aransas

Corpus Christi is a beach destination that’s ideal for your Texas babymoon. It’s known as the ‘Sparkling City by the Sea’, and it’s a fantastic place to rejuvenate before the baby comes.

You can stroll along the coast and enjoy the scenery, or take a walk around the South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. It’s also worth visiting the Padre Island National Seashore, which is one of the most beautiful parts of the Texan coastline.

If the weather isn’t so kind, you could even visit the Texas State Aquarium

For a true beach vacation, I recommend staying in Port Aransas; Port A and Mustang Island are two of the best places to visit in Texas for the beach.

Take a stroll down by the waterfront, enjoying the relaxing waves as you go. Or, you can visit the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center and go birdwatching.

There’s even a Balinese Spa where you can have treatments. If you’re feeling up to a bit of exploring, the Port Aransas museum is fantastic as well.

The Palmilla Beach Resort is a great place to stay in Port Aransas and the perfect place to rest ahead of the baby coming! It has its own resort pool, so if you don’t want to go down to the seafront you can relax there. Bonus for those who love to golf: this resort has top-notch golfing!

Dallas/Fort Worth

As a Dallasite, I don’t *particularly* feel babymoon vibes from Dallas itself. But I’ve been reminded time and time again that Dallas is a great Texas vacation destination. And it is right by so many fun cute cities and towns! So here are my recommendations for a Dallas Fort Worth babymoon:

Visit the Dallas Farmers Market on a weekend when the Shed is open! Not only are there are great food options (and fresh produce, of course), but you can also find vendors selling local goods and handmade products. There are a bunch of fun boutique shops where you can shop for home decor, some post-baby outfits, jewelry, and other fun items.

If you’re looking for high-end shopping, there’s no better place than Highland Park Village! And don’t forget to grab a cupcake from Bird Bakery while you’re there.

For a more laid-back, boutique-style shopping vibe, visit the Bishop Arts District (you can see one of its cute patio restaurants in the second photo above).

Nature lovers can enjoy a walk around Lakeside Park (first photo above) or White Rock Lake (second photo) for some scenic strolls. If you’re in the mood for a more adventurous hike, do the Cattail Pond Trail at Cedar Ridge Preserve.

In Dallas, eat at Miriam Cocina, the food trucks at Klyde Warren Park, the food hall at AT&T Discovery District, and don’t forget to get southern comfort food at Bubba’s.

Stay at Hotel Zaza, the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek (that’s where we stayed on our wedding night!), the Ritz-Carlton Dallas, the Adolphus Hotel, the Joule, or the Statler

But part of the true magic of this area lies in the surrounding cities!

Drive north to visit Historic Downtown McKinney, the most charming town square near Dallas.

Head west to visit Fort Worth, where you can get ALL the cowboy feels! Definitely go to the Fort Worth Stockyards and get tickets to the Fort Worth rodeo for some true cowboy entertainment. I also love the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens! Check out my favorite photo spots in Fort Worth here!

Marfa

Marfa is a funky, small community that is famous for being an arts center. With lots of boutique shops, it’s the ideal place to purchase some presents for yourself ahead of the baby coming!

It’s also a really fun place to just walk around and take in the atmosphere. Try brunch at one of the cafes like Buns N Roses or eat some great burritos at Marfa Burrito. Marfa is a chill little town, so you can do as much or as little as you want!

Stay at the beautiful Hotel St George which has a seasonal outdoor pool. You can relax on a sun lounger around it or take a swim. The hotel has large bedrooms with super comfy beds too!

If you’re in the mood for glamping and stargazing, stay at El Cosmico, where you can opt for yurt, teepee, safari tent, vintage trailer, or even tiny home lodgings! (The only caveat here: Keep in mind that if you’ve got to pee as frequently as I do at nighttime while pregnant, you’re going to want to book one of the options with a bathroom nearby, like the medium or large vintage trailer.)

And, of course, you can’t miss the Marfa Prada store art installation. Yes, it’s just that and nothing else, but it’s a really cool piece of art and makes for a great babymoon photo!
