Looking for family-friendly activities in Kissimmee, Florida? You’re in luck – Kissimmee has plenty to offer families looking for fun and adventure!
Located just minutes from Walt Disney World, this city is packed with outdoor activities, shopping, and unique attractions.
Whether you’re into nature, entertainment, or thrilling experiences, Kissimmee has something for everyone. From paddling through scenic waterways to exploring lively districts filled with shops and restaurants, here’s a list of 6 family-friendly activities that you won’t want to miss!
1. Kayak through a cypress forest at The Paddling Center

If your family loves nature, then kayaking at The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek is a great choice. This was by far my favorite nature activity in Kissimmee! You’ll paddle through peaceful waters surrounded by tall cypress trees.
In fact, the creek is part of the Everglades headwaters, making it a beautiful and relaxing spot. It’s easy for beginners, and kids can join too. Along the way, you might see turtles, birds, and more.
Additionally, The Paddling Center offers guided tours where you can learn about the area’s history and wildlife. Shingle Creek was once home to Native American tribes and later became an important waterway. Remarkably, some of the trees here are over 500 years old!
However, if kayaking isn’t your thing, they also rent canoes and paddleboards. There’s also a lovely walking trail you can do at Shingle Creek Regional Park as well!
You’ll want to wear comfortable clothes, bring water, and apply sunscreen.
Cost: There is no entrance fee to Shingle Creek Regional Park. At the Paddling Center, rental prices vary depending on the equipment and duration. Guided tours are available at an additional cost.
You can book tickets here.
Hours: Daily from 10 am to 6 pm
2. Explore the charming downtown of Celebration

If you’re looking for a charming, picture-perfect escape, then Celebration is the place to be. Originally developed by Disney, this town feels straight out of a storybook, with pastel-colored homes, tree-lined streets, and a welcoming small-town vibe. It’s one of the most charming family-friendly activities in Kissimmee!
Families can stroll along Market Street where you’ll find boutique shops, cozy cafes, and delicious restaurants serving everything from classic American fare to gourmet treats.
For an even better way to explore, rent a bike from Celebration Bike Rentals and cruise around town. Kids will love splashing in the interactive fountain, while adults can relax by the scenic lakeside promenade.
If you happen to visit on a Sunday, don’t miss the Celebration Farmers Market, where you can browse fresh produce, handmade goods, and local treats.
Now Snowing at Celebration
It is even more magical during the holiday season! Celebration transforms into a magical winter wonderland with its famous Now Snowing event. Each evening, from late November through December, artificial snow falls on Market Street, creating a dreamy holiday atmosphere.
Beyond the snowfall, the town also hosts horse-drawn carriage rides, ice skating, and live performances, making it one of the best holiday destinations in Florida. The entire town is lit up in the most magical Christmas displays, too!

Disney Springs is the perfect spot for families who want a mix of entertainment, shopping, and dining without needing a theme park ticket. This waterfront district features over 100 stores, numerous restaurants, and live performances, making it a must-visit in Kissimmee.
