The Best Things About Lower Greenville in Dallas, TX

If you follow my blog, you know that I love visiting popular places in Dallas – there’s so much to explore! And the crazy thing is that even if you live in Dallas, there are probably places close to home that you’ve not been to before!

Here’s one to add to the list: Lower Greenville in East Dallas, just west of Lakewood.

From friends and co-workers, I’ve learned that Lower Greenville has a great bar/restaurant scene. It’s a great place for night life, and has some really hipster restaurants – this is a popular neighborhood!

If you’ve lived in Dallas for a while but never visited Lower Greenville, this is your sign to go explore.

1. There are plenty of awesome grass fed options

Company Cafe, HG Supply, and Sundown at Granada are just three of many great places that offer grass fed meat.

As someone who loves healthy/organic/local foods, this is a big plus on my list.

2. The Truck Yard

If you’re looking for a fun place with food trucks, look no further.

The Truck Yard has an awesome vibe with live music, a variety of food trucks, and plenty of seating, including a beer garden if that’s your scene.

There’s Mexican food, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, pizza, sweet treats, and so much more on offer here, including Brunch Food Trucks every Sunday!

A trip to the Truck Yard is great for groups, great for dates, and great for families.

3. The hip, urban vibe

Lower Greenville has all kinds of shops – the highlights are definitely the local, organic, and/or unique ones.

It is known for its great bars and restaurants, so it does have more of an adult vibe, but it’s a fun place to be in general.

Check out local restaurants like Terilli’s Italian, or if ice cream is your thing, visit Botolino Gelato or Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams (pictured below).

4. Great bars

Harrison and I aren’t big drinkers, so I can’t personally recommend any one bar in particular, but Lower Greenville is hopping with bars, so you’re bound to find a good one!

Rumor has it that Apothecary has particularly fantastic craft cocktails, so if nightlife is your thing, check that one out while you’re there.

Leela’s Wine Bar is local to the Dallas area and serves wines on tap alongside pizza and light bites. The Libertine Bar is another popular bar, and they do trivia nights every Thursday!

5. You’ll find one of a kind pieces here

Shops like Buffalo Exchange and Bullzerk offer pieces you won’t find anywhere else.

Bullzerk is particularly neat because all of their tees are designed in-house with clever and funny Dallas-related slogans.

6. It’s the place to be if you’re looking for gluten free desserts

Joy Macarons and Company Cafe are gluten free! Steel City Pops used to be another favourite of mine, but unfortunately they shut down.

Dude, Sweet Chocolate also had gluten free options, but their Lower Greenville store closed – however, you can still catch them at their second location in Dallas’ Bishop Arts District!

Unfortunately, I still am on a quest to find a place with low carb desserts (seriously – if you have ANY suggestions, PLEASE let me know in the comments!), but the places listed above are great if you are just gluten free.

7. There’s some great coffee

Village Baking Co Boulangerie is one of my favorite coffee shops because of its cute French country vibe. How charming is this display? Grab a traditional Croque Monsieur, a pastry, or some classic baguettes.

For a coffee date or brunch, you can also check out La La Land Kind Cafe and LDU Coffee, two of the most highly rated coffee shops in Lower Greenville!

8. All of the patios

Even besides the Truck Yard (which is pretty much entirely patio dining), you have an outside/inside option for almost all of the restaurants here.

Say hello to gorgeous Texas spring weather by sharing some tacos or burgers with friends on River Pig Saloon‘s outdoor patio, or eat your meal on a rooftop patio at HG Supply Co!

If pizza is your go-to meal out, you can sit outside the popular Greenville Avenue Pizza Company and take in the local scenery.

9. Live music

There are quite a few places that feature live music on Lower Greenville Avenue.

Whether you’re at Sundown at Granada or getting you fill of the food trucks at The Truck Yard, you’re bound to hear some live tunes.

You can also visit the art-deco-inspired Granada Theater! Built originally as a movie house in 1946, the Granada Theater now hosts concerts, live podcast tours, tribute bands, and more.

Anyway, I’m glad we went, because we have a new favorite spot, for the 9 reasons listed above!

And I now understand why people come here to eat out. We need to head back soon – to check out any new restaurants that have popped up!
