Looking for some adorable and creative mom and baby photoshoot ideas for Valentine’s Day?
You’re in the right place! Valentine’s Day is not just for couples – it’s also for celebrating the love between moms and babies!
Whether you want to capture the love between you and your little one or celebrate your first Valentine’s Day as a mom, there are plenty of ways to make this day special and memorable.
As a mom, I know exactly what it means to have a new Valentine once your baby comes along. And it’s so important to capture those cute little toes and chubby cheeks while you can because they grow up so fast!
So, I’ve compiled 21 baby photoshoot ideas for Valentine’s Day that you can try this year. Trust me when I say you will not regret having too many photos of your baby!
There are some with just baby and some with both you and your little one, so you’ll have plenty of options for your Valentine’s Day baby photoshoot!
I’ve divided them into indoor and outdoor categories so you can choose the best option for your location!
Indoor Valentine’s Day Baby Photoshoot Ideas
Here are some Valentine’s Day baby photoshoot ideas that you can do at home! Capture some precious moments with a cozy and creative indoor shoot at home. Get ready for some cute baby Valentine’s Day photos and plenty of heart/flower/love ideas!
1. Cut Out Paper Hearts
This is a super cost-effective way to make a Valentine’s Day baby photoshoot! If you don’t have craft paper at home, you could even use newspapers, magazines, etc.!
I added in some wooden XOXO blocks, blankets, and a little teddy bear to complete the look!
And I’ve found that our baby lounger makes for the perfect, aesthetic, snuggly resting spot for photoshoots!
2. Surround Your Baby with Rose Stems
For this Valentine’s Day baby photoshoot, make your baby the center of attention by placing them on a comfy bed and surrounding them with rose stems.
Bonus points if you put on lipstick and kiss them – better yet, snap a picture of their cute reaction!
If you plan on using flowers for future photoshoots or as home decor, you can grab cloth ones that will last, like these:
3. Frame with Roses
Speaking of roses, here’s another type of baby photoshoot that you can do with them! Tape some to the edge of your camera lens or arrange them so that they create a flower frame.
4. Matching Socks & Heart Hands
For a cute and cozy Valentine’s photo, put on some matching socks and snuggle up on a sofa or a bed. Add some sparkle by draping fairy lights around you and your little one.
If your baby is old enough (more of a toddler, less of a baby), make a heart with your hands for extra cuteness!
And if they’re not quite there yet, you can simply take a photo of your feet together or with you holding your baby’s hands.
5. Heart-Covered Buns
I mean, I think the cuteness of this photo speaks for itself! Just keep in mind that you’ll want to get this photo as quickly as possible; I was so afraid that James would go to the bathroom without his diaper on!
6. Dress Up as Cupid
One great thing about having a baby is getting to dress them up however you want to! And how cute is a baby cupid?? To capture a Valentine’s Day photo like this one, dress up your baby as Cupid with the cute diaper outfit below.
Add accessories like a pair of wings, bow, and arrow, which you can also find below!
7. On a Bed with Rose Petals
I know I included a similar idea earlier, with rose stems pointing to your baby, but I think this one deserves its own place in this list!
This time, scatter rose petals all over the bed, surrounding your lil nugget! You can use real or artificial rose petals.
8. Give Your Baby a Bouquet
Have your baby hold a bouquet for this baby photoshoot for Valentine’s Day. Bonus points if you can get lipstick kisses on them!
(Note: Real flowers might not be the best idea if your baby immediately puts things in their mouth! James never put things in his mouth so this would’ve been a great one to try with him!)
9. Heart Balloon(s)
To create a sweet Valentine’s Day photoshoot with your baby, dress up in matching pajamas or colors and sit on a sofa, bed, or some other aesthetic place with a heart balloon (or a whole bunch around you!).
Smile and cuddle with your baby as you capture the precious moments. You can order red heart balloons here and get them filled with helium at your local party store! (We did that with our giant gender reveal balloon!)
10. Heart Shaped Everything
Take it one step further and add heart sunglasses, heart garlands, and a heart cake to your heart balloons! I love how my Instagram friend Sam did that here. If you have a girl, you can get matching heart-print dresses, too!
11. A Cozy Kiss
Here’s a simple but timeless way to show the world who your Valentine is! Simply lay down on the bed with your baby beside you and give them a kiss!
Have your photographer capture this sweet moment from above or from the side, with some natural light coming from the window.
12. Lipstick Kiss Mark
To create this cute baby photoshoot for Valentine’s Day, apply some lipstick and leave kiss marks all over your baby’s body! I mean, how kissable are babies? Show how much you love your little one and make them look even cuter (if that’s even possible?).
Even if it doesn’t get into the final photo, make sure to capture your baby’s expressions as they react to your kisses, whether they smile, giggle, or pout! You’ll love having them for memories!
And if you’ve got a girl, accesorize with these headbands:
13. Draw on Your Photo
Here’s a fun and super cheap Valentine’s Day baby photoshoot. You literally need no props for this one. Just take a picture of your baby on a plain background (we used his plain white crib sheet). You can use a blanket, sheet, swaddle, etc. Take a few snaps of your baby doing different poses. Then, use your imagination and your cell phone’s “edit” feature to draw on top of it! I used my iPhone’s edit feature for the wings, bow, and arrow. Then I uploaded it into Canva and added the ‘xoxo’ and hearts using their free graphics!
14. Valentine’s Cake Smash
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your baby by having a fun and messy cake smash photoshoot! You will need a cake, a Valentine’s backdrop, and a cute outfit for your baby.
Set up the cake and let your baby explore and enjoy it. Capture their expressions and reactions as they smash the cake with their hands, feet, and face!
No backdrop? Check out this Valentine’s backdrop on Amazon!
15. Baby in a Basket
Dress your baby in a cute Valentine’s outfit, such as a red or pink onesie, heart-shaped sunglasses, or a bow tie. Then, place your baby in a cozy basket lined with a soft blanket. Last step: surround the basket with Valentine’s Day accessories: flowers, a felt heart garland, stuffed animals, etc.
Capture your baby’s adorable expressions as they look at you or the camera.
16. Little Valentino
Dress up your baby boy in a black suit with a white shirt and a black bow tie for a little Valentino look. Add some accessories such as a hat or heart balloons to make it more festive!
Here is an adorable baby suit that you can try:
17. Little Valentina
If you have a baby girl, dress her up in a red outfit and add some heart-shaped accessories to create a cute and festive look for Valentine’s Day!
You can also pose with your baby in front of a white, pink, or red background and hold a plush toy or a bouquet of roses if you want to be in the photoshoot.
Looking for a cute outfit for your baby girl? I’m all about the sweet-and-sparkly vibes in this red baby tutu dress!
18. Valentine’s Day Package
You’ve got a Valentine’s Day delivery: a package with your precious baby in it! 🙂 Set your baby in a large, decorated box with blankets and Valentine signs/props.
Outdoor Valentine’s Day Baby Photoshoot Ideas
An outdoor photoshoot will give you plenty of natural light and beautiful scenery to make your pictures extra photo-worthy.
Whether you choose to pose in a flower field, grass field, park, backyard, fountain, church, or the city, you can unleash your creativity and have fun with your little one.
19. Angel Wings
How sweet is this?? To create this angelic Valentine’s Day photoshoot, dress yourself and your baby in white and wear angel wings. Then, cuddle your baby lovingly and have your photographer snap away!
20. Valentine’s Day Picnic
Spend some quality time with your baby picking some flowers or having a picnic. Since you might not have real flower fields in the middle of February, buy some and hold them and place them in aesthetic baskets! Or if you want a full flower backdrop, head to a flower shop and get some candid shots choosing flowers for a bouquet.
21. My Mini Valentine
Show off your coordinating outfits with a Me and Mini-Me photoshoot. Hold matching flowers, kiss, and pose for the camera!
