Our Stay at A Vineyard Boutique Hotel in Florence, TX

Sometimes, you need a break from the city you live in. As much as I love Dallas, the prospect of a weekend getaway makes me so excited! Exploring new places, seeing the Texas countryside, getting out of the city- all things I love!

So over Labor Day weekend, Harrison and I spent a couple of nights at The Vineyard at Florence.

TVAF, for short, is a winery/vineyard that also features a boutique hotel. So not only do they make their own wines, but they provide the most luxurious accommodations for a weekend getaway.

With complimentary breakfasts next to the vineyards and incredible views, there are great perks to staying at TVAF.

The amenities

The Vineyard at Florence has a few great features: the villas, restaurant, winery, and of course, the vineyards!

The villas are designed in a romantic Tuscan fashion. With spacious balconies and gorgeous interiors (more on that later), they are a key feature of this boutique hotel.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can sit inside or outside, and on some nights there is live music on the patio 🙂

They also make wood-fired pizzas on the weekends! I just wish they had a gluten free option!!

The winery was a fun stop on their winery tour. Keep reading for more on that. And of course, what would TVAF be without their gorgeous vineyards?!

Our room

As soon as we walked in we were blown away. You have a little entrance nook stocked with TVAF wines and a little complementary gift.

And then you see…

A king sized bed with the fluffiest sheets and pillows. Whats a vacation without a big bed to sink into? The plush bed had us feeling like we were sleeping on a cloud.

Also important for a relaxing vacation: a luxury shower. This giant shower made for a great spa time.

And how cute is this little nook?

And my favorite feature was the spacious balcony that overlooked the gorgeous vineyards.

Bonus: two huge rocking chairs for sunset viewings 🙂

Things to do at TVAF

If you want a relaxing weekend getaway, with not much driving, know that there are plenty of fun things to do at TVAF.

  • Take a bike ride: as long as the bikes aren’t in use, you can ride them for free at the reception desk. We can bike the road around the property for some great views. Unfortunately when we went, it was SO hot out that we had to cut our ride short. This is me frantically pedaling back to our villa.

  • Do the winery tour: I’ll post more about the winery tour later, but here’s a short summary. The manager, Lauren, gave us our winery tour. With her sweet and bubbly personality, Lauren explained to us how TVAF grows their own grapes and how they make their own wine. You get a behind-the-scenes look at the wine-making process. This is complementary with your stay and comes with a glass of vino 🙂

  • Enjoy a wine tasting: try the many wines offered by TVAF. ‘Nuff said.
  • Have a picnic: the grounds are gorgeous. Whether you want to eat at a picnic table or on the lush grass, you’re bound to find a perfect spot on these grounds. You can ask reception for a picnic basket an hour in advance and they’ll prepare one for you!
  • Explore the property: like I said, it is pretty gorgeous.

  • Get a massage: TVAF has a spa if you want to really and truly relax 🙂

Things to do around Florence

Do a day trip to Georgetown, TX. Only a 25 minute drive away, this is one quaint town you should put on your to-do list. Georgetown was actually voted Best Town Square in Texas! But don’t be like us and go on a Sunday, when half of the shops are closed.

Nearby is the Blue Hole, a little swimming hole right outside of Georgetown. We just walked along the water, but people were swimming in parts of it, so bring your bathing suit if you want!

When we were visiting, there were talks of a helicopter winery tour. So maybe it’ll be a thing when you go!

Overall, while the surrounding areas didn’t have a ton to offer, TVAF itself was a lovely getaway. Great for relaxing and great for stunning views. And definitely a place where romance is in the atmosphere. I’d highly recommend it! We booked our stay here at Booking.com.

Cheers!
