Alaska is a land of stunning natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and plenty of outdoors activities if that’s your thing. You can explore majestic glaciers, hike scenic trails, watch the northern lights, and so much more. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or just love to travel, I think you’ll find something to love in Alaska. Plus, in my experience, the locals have a friendly and welcoming vibe which is always nice.

2. The Bahamas

If you’re looking for tropical paradise islands with stunning beaches, The Bahamas may need to be your destination in 2024. This group of over 700 islands and cays in the Caribbean Sea has its own unique charm and beauty compared to other Caribbean destinations. You can snorkel with colorful fish, swim with pigs, hang out with lizards, explore historic forts, or just relax on the soft sand.

The Bahamas is also home to some of the most luxurious resorts and hotels in the world, where you can pamper yourself with spa treatments, gourmet dining, and amazing views.

I got to do a press trip on a yacht, sailing around The Bahamas, and I must say, it was spectacular!

3. Banff

If you’re looking for a gorgeous destination that combines nature and adventure, look no further than Banff in 2024. Banff is a town in the Canadian Rockies that offers breathtaking views and opportunities to see some amazing wildlife.

You can explore the turquoise lakes, hike the scenic trails, ski the slopes depending on when you visit, and much more. There’s also some great nearby cuisine. My husband, Harrison, ate his favorite Indian food ever at a restaurant called Tamarind in Calgary which is where you will likely fly into if you’re traveling there by plane!

Here’s my itinerary post if you’re considering visiting in 2024!

4. California

Ah California! This state will always have a piece of my heart for many reasons, some of which are that I went to the University of Southern California and met my now husband there!

But I also love its diverse natural beauty. The Golden State has some of the best national parks, plenty of sunny beaches, and iconic landmarks too! It also has amazing food. Harrison and I still reminisce on dates we went on to some of our favorite restaurants there like Bao Dim Sum.

I’ve got a lot to say about California which you can read more about here if you’re interested.

If you’re looking for a charming and historic destination, Charleston is a great choice! This Southern gem has it all: beautiful architecture, delicious cuisine, and plenty of attractions. 7. Costa Rica

If a central American tropical paradise with stunning nature, friendly people and amazing culture sounds appealing, you should visit Costa Rica in 2024. Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, with lush rainforests, volcanoes, beaches and wildlife. You can explore the national parks, zip-line through the canopy, surf the waves or relax in a hot spring.

Costa Rica is also a safe and stable country, with a high quality of life and a commitment to sustainability. You’ll love the delicious food, the vibrant music and the warm hospitality of the locals. If you’re looking to experience the pura vida, Costa Rica is where you should visit in 2024!

And if you plan to go here in 2024, here’s what I recommend seeing after visiting this beautiful country twice!

8. Florida

Harrison and I love Florida!

In fact, if we didn’t have family in Dallas, Florida would be a state we would consider moving to!

The Sunshine State is a particularly great place to visit in 2024 for those looking for somewhere that is family friendly. In fact, Harrison’s family has an annual tradition of visiting Rosemary Beach, Florida with all the kids in tow!

But Florida isn’t only good if you have kids. With beaches, theme parks, nature, good food, and warm weather all year round, it’s got plenty to offer adults (without kids) too. Here are some of the reasons why you might want to visit Florida in 2024:

  • You can experience the magic of Disney World, Universal Studios, and other amazing theme parks that you may or may not hate (but your kids will like).

Harrison and I have been to Hawaii six times – that’s how much we love it! It is a dream destination for many travelers, and for good reason. It truly is a tropical paradise. If you’re looking for a place to escape the stress of everyday life, Hawaii is the perfect choice. Here are some reasons why you should visit Hawaii in 2024.

I’ve written A LOT about Hawaii, all of which you can read here.

10. Iceland

Iceland is one of the most epic places Harrison and I have ever visited! In fact, when people ask my husband what his favorite place he has ever visited is, he usually says, “Iceland!”

Why?

Well, it feels like the entire country could qualify as a national park.

It’s one of those places where you can just stop on the side of the road and see a gorgeous waterfall that may not even be landmark people regularly visit.

Also, there aren’t many safety restrictions when it comes to visiting its scenic spots. This is a positive in that you can see gorgeous nature unhindered but may be a negative if you are thinking about visiting with little children.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable travel destination, Iceland should be on your bucket list for 2024. Here are some more reasons why you might want to visit Iceland in 2024:

  • You can see the Northern Lights. Iceland is one of the best places in the world to witness the magical phenomenon of the aurora borealis. The best time to see them is from September to March, when the nights are long and dark.
  • You can explore the glaciers. Iceland is home to some of the largest and most spectacular glaciers in Europe. You can hike, ice climb, or even go inside them with a guided tour. You’ll be amazed by the blue ice and the stunning views.
  • You can relax in the hot springs. Iceland is famous for its geothermal activity, which creates natural hot springs all over the country. You can soak in the mineral-rich water and enjoy the health benefits. Don’t miss the Blue Lagoon, one of the most popular and iconic attractions in Iceland.

You can see all of my Iceland posts here if you want to learn more about this epic destination!

11. Paris

Paris is always a good idea, but in 2024 it will be even more amazing.

Why?

Because it will host the Summer Olympics, of course! Imagine watching the world’s best athletes compete in the most romantic city in the world. You’ll get to see iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre Museum transformed into spectacular venues for sports and culture.

Plus, you’ll get to enjoy the French cuisine, the fashion, the art, and the history that make Paris so unique.

Of course, if the hectic nature of the Olympics isn’t your cup of tea, this might not be the destination for you in 2024. Or you may want to plan your travel around the Olympics.

Regardless, here is my recommended itinerary if you plan to visit this year!

12. Puerto Rico

If you’re looking for a Caribbean tropical getaway in 2024 that doesn’t require a passport for US citizens to visit, there are plenty of reasons to visit like:

  • Puerto Rico has gorgeous beaches, mountains, rainforests, and caves that offer endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. You can hike, surf, snorkel, zip-line, kayak, and more.
  • This island nation has delicious dishes like mofongo, arroz con gandules, pasteles, and alcapurrias. Don’t forget to try the local coffee and rum.
  • It has plenty of beautiful historical sites like Old San Juan, El Morro, and La Fortaleza.
  • Puerto Rico is easy to travel to from the US. You don’t need a passport, visa, or currency exchange. You can also find affordable flights and accommodations. This is one of the things Harrison and I love about PR!

13. Saint Lucia

Harrison and I have had the luxury of visiting the Sugar Beach Resort in Saint Lucia twice! The stunning look of Saint Lucia’s majestic Pitons is one of the primary reasons I wanted to visit this Caribbean getaway.

This island is home to some of the best resorts and spas in the world, where you can pamper yourself with massages, facials, and other treatments. If you want a unique Caribbean experience, Saint Lucia could be for you.

And if you’re considering staying at Sugar Beach, check out my thorough guide to this luxury resort!

14. Savannah

Bonaventure cemetery Savannah

If you want to visit a place with southern charm that is a bit less touristy and more laid back than Charleston, Savannah is the spot I recommend! Here are some of the things that make Savannah a great place to visit:

  • Explore the Savannah Historic District, where you can admire the beautiful architecture, stroll through the shady squares, and learn about the city’s rich past.
  • Visit the Bonaventure Cemetery, one of the most scenic cemeteries in the world, where you can see the graves of famous Savannahians like Johnny Mercer and Conrad Aiken.

15. Singapore

Singapore has a special place in my heart because it’s where my mom is from, and I still have a lot of family there! If you’re looking for an exotic place to visit that’s totally safe and has amazing food, Singapore is the spot for you! Here are some of the unique things that make Singapore stand out:

  • The Gardens by the Bay: This futuristic park features giant supertrees that light up at night, a cloud forest dome with a waterfall, and a flower dome with exotic plants from around the world.
  • The Hawker Centers: These are outdoor food courts where you can sample a variety of dishes from different cuisines, such as chicken rice, laksa, satay, and rojak. They are cheap, delicious, and authentic, and have my favorite foods in the entire world! Seriously -they have Michelin rated food stalls here!!
  • The Marina Bay Sands: This iconic hotel and casino complex has a rooftop infinity pool that offers a stunning view of the city skyline. You can also visit the ArtScience Museum, which showcases interactive exhibits on art, science, and technology.
  • The Sentosa Island: This is a resort island that has many attractions, such as Universal Studios, SEA Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, and Madame Tussauds. You can also relax on the sandy beaches or take a cable car ride to enjoy the scenery.
  • The Ethnic Quarters: These are historical neighborhoods that reflect the diverse cultures of Singapore. You can explore Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, and Joo Chiat to see the colorful architecture, temples, mosques, and shops. You can also try some of the local specialties, such as dim sum, curry, nasi lemak, and kueh.

In short, Singapore is great if you want to try a lot of different southeast Asian food and then burn all the calories off walking everywhere!

16. Texas

Of course, I have to include my home state on this list! Here are some of the unique things that make Texas a great place to visit in 2024:

  • Experience the Texan spirit at the San Antonio Rodeo, the largest and most prestigious rodeo in the world. Watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in thrilling events like bull riding, barrel racing, and roping. You can also enjoy live music, carnival rides, and delicious food at this annual festival.
  • Explore the vibrant and eclectic city of Austin, the live music capital of the world. You can catch a show at one of the many venues, from intimate clubs to outdoor amphitheaters. You can also visit the famous South by Southwest festival, which showcases the best of film, music, and technology.
  • Discover the rich and diverse heritage of Texas at the Alamo, the site of the legendary battle that inspired the famous cry “Remember the Alamo!” You can learn about the history of the Texas Revolution and see artifacts and exhibits related to the event. You can also admire the beautiful architecture and gardens of this historic landmark.
  • Enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of Texas at Big Bend National Park, one of the largest and most remote national parks in the country. You can hike, bike, camp, or raft along the Rio Grande River, which forms a stunning border with Mexico. You can also spot a variety of animals, from black bears to roadrunners.
